Description

The Economic Competitiveness and Resilience Support Program – Phase II is a direct continuation of Phase I, which was designed as an immediate response to the economic and social shocks resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. While Phase I primarily focused on stabilizing the Mauritian economy, supporting public finances, and preserving productive capacity, Phase II aims for the structural consolidation of these achievements, directing public action towards a sustainable, competitive, and resilient recovery. Its intervention strategy is based on alignment with the African Development Bank's (AfDB) 2022-2027 Country Strategy, promoting a green and inclusive recovery.

Objectives

📈 Economic Diversification:
Strengthen the diversification of productive activities beyond traditional sectors to reduce dependence on external shocks.

⚙️ Private Sector Competitiveness:
Improve the business environment and the performance of Mauritian companies in key sectors.

🌱 Green Energy Transition:
Accelerate the transition to clean energy sources (e.g., home solar installations for energy inclusion).

🌍 Climate and Environmental Resilience:
Strengthen environmental governance and the capacity to respond to climate risks.
