Description

The SAPZ Program is a territorial development model aimed at transforming African agriculture into a modern commercial and industrial sector. The intervention strategy is based on the growth pole model: designated geographic areas, often peri-urban, are equipped with key infrastructure (roads, energy, water, ICT) to attract private investment and bring together actors in the value chain (farmers, aggregators, processors, and logistics providers). These areas are anchored by Agro-Industrial Hubs (AIHs) and Agricultural Processing Centers (ATCs) that connect primary production with processing and export markets, thereby optimizing logistics, minimizing post-harvest losses, and maximizing added value.

Objectives

• Increased agricultural productivity Improve production, access to inputs, mechanization, and support for smallholder farmers and agricultural SMEs. • Job creation and socio-economic inclusion Generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, particularly for young people and women, in rural areas. • Improved productivity Create processing hubs, add value to agricultural products locally, reduce post-harvest losses, and increase added value. • Food security and sustainable rural development Strengthen national food security, reduce dependence on imports, while promoting structured and resilient rural development.
